Janusz Marynowski receives the Norwid Prize

Yesterday Janusz Marynowski received the Cyprian Kamil Norwid prize in the “Music” category. The Executive Director of the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra received the prize for organising the “Les Titans” La Folle Journée Festival in 2011.

The Norwid prize has been awarded for the past 10 years to artists with ties to the Mazowsze region. Other laureates include Piotr Mueldner-Nieckowski (in the LITERATURE category), Mirosław Bałka (in the ARTS category) and Jan Englert (in the THEATRE category). The “Lifetime Achievement” prize was awarded to actor Andrzej Łapicki, who passed away several months ago. Other nominees in the Music category were Łukasz Borowicz, for his recordings of Polish music with the Polish Radio Orchestra and Janusz Olejniczak for the album “Chopin. Mazurkas, Valses, Nocturnes, Polonaises and Ballade in G minor, op. 23”.

This personal prize is also a prize for all of the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra for their initiative and involvement in all Polish editions of the La Folle Journée Festival.
